Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I’ve never seen this many good employees and L3+ leave in such a short period of time

The question isn’t why they’re leaving. The question is… what do they know that you don’t?

Morale is collapsing. Talent is walking out the door. People spend more time worrying about where their job might be moved next than how to grow the business. RTO and FTW are a major distraction and ruining what’s left of the company.

Meanwhile, leadership remains fixated on RTO, badge swipes, and presence reports as the company continues to lose ground.

RTO hasn’t created growth. It hasn’t created innovation. It hasn’t improved execution. It’s become a distraction from the real problems and significantly reduced hours. I can’t get in contact with anyone in the afternoon anymore.

At a time when the company needs stability, focus, and a reason for people to stay, leadership is kicking the company while it’s already down.

You can’t attract new young talent when you have prison policy. Nobody worthwhile is willingly signing up for this.

@gt

If you get an email saying anyone L3+ has decided to leave the company to pursue something else. That means they were asked to leave. Their layoffs are incognito.

Game over. SpaceX will soon make T,VZ and others obsolete. Great policy work in DC boys!!!! Industry got just what it deserved from Congress and FCC. How’s that 96 deregulation working for you now. Hey tax boys in Dallas, what’s the salvage value of $100 billion in worthless spectrum?

How dare you not call our new pricing plans "innovation"!!?? There are leaders around here that truly feel like bundling fiber and mobile together is "innovative." Pathetic.

Honestly, this started two years ago when the key theme at LWD was reducing the L3 and L4 layers. Everyone in the room heard it and knew clock was ticking. Smart ones have left and those remaining are toast.

Some leaving on their own and others are targeted for doing the right thing and telling the higher ups what they don’t want to hear. Only to be backfilled with “yes-men” which is one of the core tenants of a market based culture. Similar to talent shows. Overly produced, highly orchestrated, popularity contest. Real talent (rarely) makes it to the finals. Just the popular “favorites”. That same popularity culture is what replaced “loyalty”.

Move work to India. We are ready & willing. Fire the ungrateful whiners.

Good riddance to the employees not willing to work! RTO is the corporate policy. If not willing to follow it, leave. Others willing to meet the requirement will gladly take your spot.

I’m sure the 10% surplus coming next Monday with employees off payroll by beginning of July will turn around the rock-bottom morale, improve the disdain towards leadership, and drive results that have zero chance of achieving in Q2.

They can’t import infinity Indians until you’re off payroll, dead, and broke so they can replace you and your family.

They want to replace you with H1B that can’t leave and offshore employees that cost next to nothing.

@a4 This is a very common occurrence, back in the day, I was involved with herding LDP classes. within a few years 90% of the investment leaves due to same reasons as noted.

excellent summary. and as previously noted, They Don’t Care !! The leaders are just looking out for themselves and cashing in on those stock options and massive paychecks

I joined as a TDP with 100+ others. Today less than 10 remain. The pay is not competitive, the policy is terrible, and the culture is nonexistent. I was hoping the RTO policy would ease but it clearly isn’t so I’ve just started interviewing elsewhere. I’ll be gone before the end of the year.

Many were holding out hoping things would ease or get better. Now they realize it isn’t and are heading for greener pastures. Most people are tired of the prison treatment and tired of feeling disrespected and undervalued.
