I think they were mostly worried about people who either were inconsistent in the number of days attended per week or were under 2 hours. I stayed 2 hours and 5 minutes every connect day and got my full bonus. I was in the layoff list though so it may have had the impact on that though. Who knows, I’ve heard the threshold was 4 hours from some VP’s but really only HR and execs knows the actual rules.

I also coffee badged the entire year last year and didn't get told a thing. Stop scaring folks.

@hp - are you hourly? Salaried has never had a “full workday” hours officially defined by HR. Otherwise imagine all the parents who leave early to drop kids off at activities but log on late to make up the time and get the work done. I can’t imagine HR punishing them.

Yes. At the end of 2025 a large number of employees received a first and final warning and subsequently had their bonuses and any potential salary adjustments completely revoked. It did not matter whether you got IP, SP, or EP as decision and list of names was only communicated from HR to people managers after end of year performance discussions had been completed.

Their justification: if you read HR's docs on the bonus program eligibility it requires that an employee be "in good standing." You can find a definition of "in good standing" in another document and it essentially says to be in good standing you must not have received any formal written corrective action within the past 12 months. So by issuing people their first written warnings a few days before bonus payout, it meant that anyone who received one was no longer eligible to participate in the bonus program.

For most people this was the first time they'd been given any indication of whether their attendance was an issue or not. The specific number of expected hours was never explicitly communicated before or after giving these warnings. HR clearly doesn't want to say an exact number because they want to be able to move the goal posts when necessary. They also waited until the end of the year after collecting all the badging data to take any action or give any notification to employees because cruelty and encouraging attrition was the point of the exercise.

My bonus was $0 last year due to 'coffee badging' you can see my post from back in Nov/dec. I had perfect attendance in Workday but never stayed 8 hours or anywhere close to it.

Last Oct or Nov they stealth-updated the hybrid policy to say everyone is required to spend their "full work day" in office

There is no documentation that says 8 hours is required for salaried employees. As long as the work is getting done. If someone was coming in for 4 hours everyday then I think they would say something about that, but do a PIP to make sure it stops. Hours are business unit specific.
