DEI is tech; tech is DEI.
One cannot exist without the other. They have been so engrained since the early 80's, that most people who have worked in tech just assume they are one organism.

Don't believe me? Talk to anyone who recruited in the late 80's, early 90's and ask how they notated interest cards.

And yes, hiring using any other metric than merit IS degrading quality and therefore ruining the tech.
