Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

“Schwamily”

The company will keep making more money, raising expectations and goals, while my paycheck pretty much stays the same, and benefits get worse.

Yes, it was the same when I got there, but I look at most things skeptically especially when they pour on the sugars heavily as they did when I arrived. Maybe that was the case 20 years ago, but that firm is an absolute dead end experience for most people that are unfortunate enough to be part of it.

You will barely move the dial, regardless of how much work you do your raises as a bonuses will be extremely limited. Your organization has zero loyalty to tenure individuals. The only move is to hold onto your job until you find something at an organization that values your work and will pay you for moving the dial. Schwab is without a doubt, one of the worst firms to work for look to get out as soon as possible and that is coming from a very tenure, experienced individual that has worked in large organizations.

You need to understand that the order of priority is:

  1. Shareholders
  2. Clients
  3. Employees

Agree with the above about doing what you are paid to do. I did not get a role that should have been mine, after years of “exceeds”. I am no longer: volunteering for work, planning ahead for anything, or multi-tasking. I do needlework while listening to meetings. It’s so great!

@OP

Seek equilibrium in work efforts and rewards. Make changes to your approach to regain balance.

Paychecks stay fairly consistent, but thanks to inflation and more RTO days you’re losing money and donating time. Fun!

It’s Schwamily in the way one has an abusive uncle.
