Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Silent layoffs

Major layoff rounds don't scare me. Those come and go and by the end of them we know where we stand. It's the constant silent layoffs that are destroying me. They can happen at any moment to any of us. That's the real problem with T. That's what's making me lose sleep.

Don’t do a bit of extra work, show up, do your 8 hours and leave daily. The company does NOT care about you. HR is there to protect the company. Check box the nonsense training and surveys.. the inevitable.. you will be removed from employment. Save your money, do side jobs and get the he-l out.
Best is succeed in sales and have quota adjusted and then be in payback or the following year be set up to fail and then worry about POS boss working you out of business.

The lockout a few weeks ago was a preview of the silent layoffs. If you were locked out, consider yourself warned.

Op, I was in your spot few years ago or maybe worst. I was heavily in debt, nothing saved up, no other source of income and very anxious where I constantly have to smoke to cope. I cleaned all my debt, saved a lot and invested. Layoff doesn’t really scare me.

@a7 , many are due to these many greedy, C suiters buying into the snake oil hype & using that BS as bogus “justification” to cut heads.

@OP Don't lose sleep. Prepare your resume and make new business contacts all the time. The future is random.

Good, the thought of a layoff needs to live in the back of your mind when you work at AT&T. With the thought of losing your job on your mind it should make you angry enough to get your plans in order. You either get mad enough and decide this isn’t the place for you or you stay and plan for the “in case” layoff. When the company tells you it’s time to move on you’re ahead of the curve. If you truly are with your back against the wall working here and have no other choice, then letting the company live in your head in misery and fear is all on you.

Good for you that you have a side gig. Second income of any kind is key. Good Luck!

This isn’t an AT&T issue. Layoffs are happening everywhere.
