Retirement postings - much more than usual

This past weekend, I noticed more-than-usual number of retirements posted on LinkedIn and FB. I am aware of a Canadian program driving a June decision for some employees, but that does not explain all of the postings in Houston. Are there other programs in North America with a June 1st trigger?

@OP Believe it or not, I've known a few folks that new they were going to retire but held out and offered themselves up as "tributes" to be PiPd and save a younger person in their group. They can't announce until ranking is done so maybe that explains some of it.

Or, maybe they were "unofficially" told by their manager they were NSI and decided F-this and retired.

Summer is a good time to quit and move if you have kids in school. Same for December.

Execs are forced out in June. In December, execs are either given their bonus or told that their career has come to an end and they have until June to retire.
