Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

June layoffs?

Anyone know if there will be new layoff rounds in June? Hearing rumors that layoffs could become a quarterly occurrence. Any insight on whether there might be cuts next week, and if they would be concentrated in STS or spread across multiple organizations?

The job market is strong outside of Schwab. I have recruiters contacting me every week. Being let go, may be the best thing that can happen to you!

No one is safe anymore. Does not matter what your performance rating was. If you are at the wrong place at the wrong time, you get cut. You should assume that this is your last day and plan your financial life accordingly.

Man, I hope my number gets called this time. Just think about how much it’s going to su-k trying to get actual work done once the glorified online casino is open 24/7. No thanks. lol

Quarterly layoffs have occurred for over four years. A larger layoff is increasingly likely. Late last year we were asked to identify and adjust head count. Some of this work went into reorgs. Some is pending cuts. The best guidance is to expected every single day to be your last. Always have your network and CV ready. Always have anything you want to keep off-site and under your personal control. When you are let go you should have a few minutes to send a goodbye note, but many managers do not honor this for fear of sabotage.

Layoffs is ALREADY a quarterly tradition in STS. About 100-300 a quarter is the going rate.
