I am on a year long leave. I was just told my position was eliminated. Does this mean I am pretty much fired when my year off ends or does it mean I just go to a new department?

when you are on a leave your CDSID will be marked as inactive but still in the directory. You will disappear from a directory about 30days after termination.
Yup...goner
Sorry, but you're probably out
If you want a position in a different department, you will have to search for it and apply. Hopefully, your manager will give a good recommendation for you.
I was let go from Ford in April. I am glad I no longer have to work there. I have moved on and enjoy life instead of stressing out all the time.
They can terminate you now if it’s related to a wider layoff not related to your leave. Being on leave doesn’t really protect from widespread layoffs. Were others impacted on your team? A year is a long time…
Ford shut down by CDSID so I can’t read HR online. Does anyone know? Probably not a good sign. lol
If medical leave I do not believe they can fire you -- but might soon after you return; either way you can clarify yourself by go to HR online and reading about the type of leave you are on. It will state the potentials.
