Is your manager notified if you apply to an internal job posting? Anyone knows?

The only reason that happened is because the hiring managers contacted your current manager and asked for your current manager's assessment of you and your work performance.
Many say they aren’t notified.. unbeknownst to me, my manager approached to talk to me about it. I didn’t hear back from HR since.
@h7 your layoff and the internal job search are coincidental but hey whatever lets you sleep at night
@h5 not true, I was laid off because I was looking out internally and this was told by the new team's hiring manager itself and ofcourse I do the math afterwards of those forced blames
They're not notified until an offer is being made to you, then they and the new manager have to work out a transition plan. Depending on the current manager, the transition period could be the typical 2 weeks, or it could be longer if they want to be a hammer about it.
@ct depends on the group. I get notified and my manager is notified every time I apply. I have no reason to lie
The only way is if the Hiring Manager reaches out but us in TA wouldn't without asking you first We try to tell HMs this but we can't control what what they do.
@cg BS. Unless someone in HR knows you and lets you know. Standard policy is that it's anonymous until you receive an offer. I've had several teams in several departments and never once was notified of an employee posting unless they told me themselves. HR can't do the job they're supposed to do let alone tell each manager every time someone posts.
@ag RIFs are strategic. They exit folks they want/need to exit first then if there is any room they may consider a volunteer. Weeks months or 2027, just remind them every now an then. People tend to forget and move along.
Depends on the group. I get notified.
"Citi is a land of opportunity." Said the oblivious, naive and deranged Citi "manager".
LOL!
Citi has dead end jobs and salaries. It's where your career goes to D!E.
And since Citi is under a hiring freeze since at least the year 2024, Citi is even more of a ghost town desert!
Manager should not be notified in system if you apply for any internal roles. Depending on your relationship with manager, you can let him/her know if you are are selected for 2nd interview as courtesy. Else you can let him know upon accepting the offer.
Man, I hope you are a manager, give me a bone here. I’ve asked twice now and have volunteered to be let go should they look for any. There’s been about 3 rounds of layoffs in the same group I’m in and I’m still here. My cell doesn’t ring and no shoulder taps for pink slips. My performance is anywhere from average to above average. I’ve seen them let those below average and highest rating.
So as odd as it may seem especially here on this board and, no its not rage baiting, what do I have to do to be told I’m let go. Sure,I could quit but I’d like that little bit of layoff cash to get me down the road further but they just keep passing me by.
Manager(s) only notified if it looks like a 'go', the firm protects you. That being said most of us (C15) see an internal move/promotion as a sign of being a good manager. Your success reflects on us too. Go for it - Citi is a land of opportunity (disclaimer: for some).
I don't think so. In my case, I informed after getting the offer letter
They are not notified, but the hiring manager or HR may reach out to your manager
