Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Will Shell merge or consolidate with bp?

It’s that time again when we forecast and alter the future…
Will Shell acquire or consolidate with bp? Is Shell waiting for the Deepwater Horizon payments to become manageable?

BP was green and woke long before Shell. Shell followed BP's lead. So when Shell casts a lustful eye towards BP, management doesn't see the same fu---d up freakshow we see. For Shell, it's like looking in a mirror except what gazes back is a better, more evolved version of itself. Simply beautiful. All those personnel issues? Shell is just as deaf to BP's problems as they are to its own, just noise. Shell thinks that "becoming one" with BP would fast track its own evolution to perfection. Shell is mesmerized. And goons uncontrollably.

But @13r is right. If there's a merger, BP survives, not Shell.

Also, there's no way the le----n doesn't end up as ceo of the combined company. At least we get rid of YL in the bargain.

@OP Why would they want to buy that dumpster fire? Shell is a big disaster already. Any guesses where the share price would be with that move?

@11y BG is not BP. Very different relationship and history with the UK government. And Shell's willingness to slide across borders makes it even less favored.

@11v Shell bought BG as in British Gas when they where more Dutch now they are English. Shell will be forced to make moves soon.

it’s actually relevant when you observe that these two companies have more financial and operational dependencies today than ever…Research Mars corridor and recent URSA, Trinidad, and Kaskida flow line connection to Shell platform. Any sophisticated industry observer realizes that both operators are interdependent. In addition both operators have the UK domicile and taxation issue which will require displacement

"Deepwater Horizon payments" is a new wrinkle to a 30 year rumor. Nonsense, since it is baked into the value, but new.

Why does this keep coming up? Someone with a keen insight, no doubt.
Like neighbors who keep throwing that dead squirrel back over the fence again and again. Hasn’t happened in 30+ years and won’t now. Waste of thought effort.
Now, how about that recent Elvis sighting?!!
