Retail conversions

I read a comment that 600-700 stores are either being closed or converted to indirects this July. Is there any more info on that? There’s not a lot of chatter around it, and that’s a large percentage of total stores. Seems like there would be more conversations around it if it was true.

Indirect have a different business model to be profitable because they pay real contribution in commission. Not some sales dollar draw that VZ does. A lot run on lean staff. Some these locations converted require a lot more staff which cuts into the model. I think the agents will look more closely in the future before taking unwanted VZ locations.

There will be more conversions happening later this year but 600-700 is not true. Hearing more like 200-300 like the last time and then more possibly in next year.

A lot of the stores they converted in the last round aren’t doing so good on the indirect side so the indirect companies are being wary on which stores they pick up or even if they do pick them up. Some indirects are even going to be shutting their doors soon that were converted.
