Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Your manager does not matter

Your manager doesn't matter at all. They don't do anything regarding whether you remain employed or not, they learn of you getting fired about an hour before they let you know...they are useless so don't worry about pleasing your management.

This is 100% incorrect for management surplus.

ADs and Directors rank their teams based on their own opinions about the value each team member brings. Also, make no mistake that "likeability" and a PITA factor WILL weigh in heavily in their ranking. If you are always causing either one or both of them headaches, you are done.

They simply have to offer heads based on the percentage of cuts mandated. Salary is NOT a consideration, despite what the misinformed person that keeps claiming that says here.

Us union slugs don't get rated.

It’s great if you can A. get the union job and B. avoid getting laid off due to lack of seniority. Unions don’t create wealth. They concentrate it in the hands of their members (best case)

The fact that this post of complete misinformation has received so many upvotes votes speaks to how detached you people truly are.

You manager ranks you.

They literally place you at the top or the bottom. Guess what happens when you’re at the bottom?

Look how many people Cheryl Choy tossed out the door. How ironic they tossed her out the door. At the end of the day everyone is going.

@aj
Nope. Look at it again. It excludes pto days.

That’s interesting because the presence report logic now calculates the % in office days for a given month and does not exclude PTO days. So if there are 20 working days in a month and I take vacation for 5 the report show the office presence days as 75%.

This isn’t true except in recent cases where presence report metrics identify an employee not meeting in office requirements. If managers and directors provide a high team ranking but the individual hasn’t been meeting RTO requirements, the employee is flagged and cannot be saved.
