The reasons that Americans aren’t invited to ELP classes outside the US are quite obvious. Is not good business to pay international travel $$ to send Americans to Europe and Asia for training. Have more US classes if need is critical. Reality is US ELP demand and the target American population is shrinking with strategy shift to develop regional talent pools to staff senior positions outside the US. This is aligned with smaller US footprint, fewer expat opportunities, drops in potential, flattened orgs, etc. etc. etc.

@hc i wrote a single reply, so it's for sure more than a single poster (maybe 2, 3, 4 ....who knows) But it's interesting (and sad) thaat there at least ONE person who is quite vocal of being anti diversity (or low key racist perhaps?) hiding behind the computer screen.

It’s obvious that this thread had been corrupted by a single poster arguing with multiple replies to themselves to promote the pro DEI position. You aren’t fooling anyone.

@cw The majority of the company is male, and the people who hold most of the power have shaped the toxic culture we’re dealing with. Majority is responsible for we have today.

@cw the effort is so concentrated that they even have ELP classes in other regions of the world where only non-Americans are invited! Can you believe that?!? They don’t invite Americans to the Europe/Middle East or the Asia classes! Quick call Tucker Carlson and tell him all about it!

@cw yawn... More dei divisive message. How many of executives, VPs, refinery managers, LCMs are minorities? Count with ur fingers 🤌

@cw, let’s acknowledge the good ole why te boy network roots run deep here. There wouldn’t have had to be a “concentrated effort” if strong biases didn’t exist and shaped everything from hiring, promotion and retention in favor of why te males…Now soak on that.

Then there’s the work migration effect. Layer on reduced expat assignments, that equals more non-US folks get the invite to the classes. All decisions made by the wh-yte guys and gals in the C-suite. So if you feel some sort of way abt it, direct it there.

For anyone who is not yet aware, there is a rising executive HiPo cohort for these classes and there are separate sessions for everyone else going nowhere in their careers. Over decades, the rising executive cohort goes through all the levels of training together to solidify their clique. They know they’ve been chosen. They carry their secret club back into the workplace where they manage assignments, rank, and promote their own accordingly. Everyone else goes through the motions of taking the training but it’s just gaslighting posing as recognition to retain the work mules for a decade before they PIP.

@cw, do you really think that a bs comment on this chat is going to make anyone doubt the decades of DEI favoritism that we have all experienced. You’ve hit upon the original definition of gaslighting. Let that sink in.

For the last few years there is a concentrated effort to get non Americans, minorities and womens into this class. Let that sink in.

few years ago, this guy on our team got really close with our manager, and together they targeted this poor coworker until they pushed him out. In return he nominated his buddy for the UNC management workshop.

As the Dean of the University of North Carolina Management Program said after the weeklong ExxonMobil course stated, "For every Exxon employee that makes it to the Executive V.P. level, there are 3000 tombstones of employees in the cemetery that tried and failed."

3000:1 odds are not in your favor.

Obviously not every participant is going to make it, but you will not make Exec without the program. Being selected is a recognition. The fact that you do not understand this is one of the reasons why you are NSI material.....

Right! Do attendees know that the number of true future Execs going to this program is minimal? Meaning, there may only be 1-2 if any attending in your cohort. It has become a Check the box activity so people feel like EM cares, when in fact the MC thinks almost everyone is replaceable. Remember, no need to go above and beyond anymore, it’s just a paycheck.
