Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Healthcare after layoff

ACA (Obamacare) is most expensive. The Citi retirement plan is second and ironically COBRA is cheapest (at $2,100 per month for my wife and I).

I will turn 65 during the 18 month COBRA period. So, I thinking that is the best option (COBRA then Medicare for me). Then ACA for my wife until she turns 65 in 3 years.

I'm just wondering what others have done or what your thoughts are. Thanks

ACA aka Obamacare's subsidies were gutted and k!lied because of sheer and unbridled jealousy.

King Lear and his cronies seethe with jealousy because it's abnormal for a middle-class URM to achieve honours on their own merits and skills as well as admission to elite Universities let alone achieve what was believed to be an impossibility, being elected to the the highest office in the Land, without family wealth, political connections or bribery, ahem Donations to elite Universities.

And so, King Lear and his cronies want to destroy and erase history, legacies and their foes' successes.

I paid more here for insurance than my wife’s company offered though Cobra.

@aj apologies, your Aetna individual $600 (with same coverage) was not the Citi retirement version of Aetna. how did you find it?

ACA was fine and reasonably priced until Trump and his toadies got their hands on it and ki-led the subsidies. All because it's informally called "Obamacare."

I did COBRA for 10 months and then Medicare. Both C retirement medical and ACA were more expensive than COBRA.

Term date April 18th. Aged 57. Wife is 54.

For us both:

Citi retirement plan $2100. Cobra $2600. Private health $908.

Basically yes. If you qualify for citi retirement benefits, you can participate in the retirement medical plans till you go on Medicare at 65. It is basically unsubsidized like cobra nd higher premiums are also due to the lower volume of overall participants in these plans. Personal thoughts, would consider this option if there are pre existing medical conditions that would make private health care unaffordable.

Layed off in March. Healthcare monthly with citi was about $500 for individual plan, aetna medical, vision and metlife dental. Unsubsidized Cobra, $1000/mo. Citi retirement, $1200/mo. Went with private insurance 1st choice, subsidiary of Aetna. $600/mo, same coverage! Suggest you contact health insurance agent for option until you can get Medicare. I also found aca as expensive or more as citi retirement option.

You know we're living in a complete dystopia when COBRA is the cheapest option.
