Thread regarding 3M layoffs

IT moving to a factory model

During the Q2 Town Hall, a question was asked about our strategy to replace commodity IT roles with external partners.

The answer was that we're moving to more of a factory model of labor, and we're going to reduce the need to have specialized 3M knowledge.

Between that and the other half of the town hall being about how we need to scale up our use of AI, it's clear that they're looking to reduce headcount.

How about we implement this factory model of labor (labor of love) at the top of the IT house. Starting with all the direct reports to the CIO and most certainly for the "lack of: strategy & planning group within IT.

That's because in their eyes we're all interchangeable parts in the machine.

We need to get that share price up to $200, and apparently the best idea they have for that is to get rid of everyone who knows how 3M works.
