@d9 People spoke up because they cared. Retaliation against those voices says more about leadership than it does about the team.

AJ, Nimo: It’s painful to watch people help build something meaningful, only to be silenced or pushed aside when they challenge the status quo. Innovation cannot thrive in an environment where independent voices are muted and only agreement is rewarded. Strong teams are built by empowering capable people, not blocking them from succeeding.

Laid off today, 4 years with technical support. Our team was cut bare bones, I think 2 today and 4 in the last layoff. Burnout is gonna be heavy.
Severance package was 60 days pay + payout. Still have PTO on the books that they eliminated for FTO that I hope I get paid for, HR said it would be included in my last paycheck but I was unable to access NAI to verify how much I had left.
Managers didn't have answers for most of my questions and was locked out of my accounts before I could submit the paperwork they wanted.

@c0 this guy is an id--t. Where are you hearing or seeing 20%?

@ad 20%. Largest in NetApp history. They are expert at skirting around legal requirements. Because tech companies are inherently schmarmie and NetApp is one of the schmarmiest anymore.

GTM under Dallas. Dallas and Don (CTO) and AJ are probably the worst managers in the history of managers. Never talked to their people. Have no idea what their teams are doing. Total guesses.

FWIW, I "heard"
all the CSMs in NAmer
some SAMs
Some support people

But not GK, or selfie king, or the clown DeBlasio, No CSO management that I know of. Several of them should have topped the list.
At least we made some room for more losers from Microsoft to join NetApp.

It also makes sense because they even revving up AI but haven't had layoffs immediately like other companies. Then they've been tracking people and how much AI you've been using even though they said they weren't using it. And then of course they change the paid time off to flex time off so you don't have a crude pay time off hours like before

And for my understanding is last year there was a push to be back in the office even though it allowed hybrid or remote work but then this year they're pushing to then have people be back in the office even more so

I was laid off but then I was entirely remote so almost seems like it was purposeful. That and targeting people that have been there for a long time or potentially higher health costs

@ax This is all going to hurt hard this FY when higher-ups start to realize that AI doesn't help all that much and that we can't bet the farm on it.

@aw

sorry to hear that. As always, it's hard to understand how we can cut on core teams and components like ENG or SUP. With this mindset, we'll just keep playing catch-up with the market, as we have in recent years, and fail to deliver any unique selling points or innovative, cutting-edge features. We urgently need new leaders who genuinely care about our products—not just managing and optimizing numbers.

@ad WARN notice typically happen on the day of the layoff. That's why those affected will still be on payroll for the next 60 days (the WARN period) with no expectation to work (i.e. accounts are all shutoff by end of day).

@ad all corp comms to employees have been paused because there was a “different focus” that needs to be communicated out this week. The WARN report will probably go up today at 8am
