Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Still unemployed

I've been unemployed for months after being laid off and I'm starting to lose hope. I'm not sure what's worse, the rejection emails or the silence on the majority of applications I send out. I honest to goodness don't know how much longer I can keep doing this.

@e4 Sounds like you did your job well but pushed back against stupid ideas proposed by mo--ns at the director/GP level. Most of them are shallow and insecure low IQ drones on a power trip. They got where they are by "playing the game" and kissing as much @ss as possible. Aka yes men. They expect you to do the same when they are in power because they feel entitled to this new power they have that took years of faking it to get. It's hard work to pretend every single day and keep that mask on. Pushing back makes them have to use logic or common sense to defend their decisions. They cannot do this. When you are an EDJ drone, you only know one setting: Repeat kool aid talking points, don't ask questions, deflect blame when the plan goes up in smoke. The end result is a toxic shithole that we have on our hands today.

@OP , did you work here long and have an LP? I'm cashing out mine.

I pray you find some comfort or answers soon on your journey. Please don't give up and continue to talk and network.

@e4 It became a liability when people like you were declared a "threat" to these mental cases running our circus. They are insecure and just plain nasty people. They don't like anyone questioning them, they don't hold each other accountable, they are calculating, vindictive, but also very predictable due to their short sighted thinking and "by the book" approach. These were the kids picked last at kickball, have mommy and daddy issues, spouse issues, and kids who are neglected from day 1. These people are deep down miserable souless ghouls who will continue to ki-l the golden goose in exchange for a few pieces of silver today.

I got laid off 5 months ago after 10 years. Now that same office is interviewing to fill my old job. Not even an exceeding expectations annual review and multiple awards and KNOWLEDGE helped me...... my multiple degrees in a variety of areas. When did knowledge and experience become a liability to EJ?

@OP Many are in the same boat. It’s not a reflection on you. Find new skills, get lean financially and join the remaking on the other side. The leaders that give us this corporate/AI/money before people system are going to have the reins taken away.

That is terrible, and the job market is a giant cluster F right now with AI hoopla and recession now being thrown around from massive tech layoffs coupled with inflation\fuel prices. Look on the bright side though, your sacrifice to ch\/baks spreadsheet has allowed penny more $ to buy more shoes, wine, and ugly jackets. Her Ladue friends are very proud of her.

I was ISP'd and have been sending out applications since the announcement. The workforce market is absolutely horrendous right now. Admittedly I was trying really hard not to step down too far but I have been going as low as 50% of what I made before and I was at the minimum for my paygrade with exclusively exceeds expectations reviews, only two "meets" ever, both when I started on new teams.

Before my last day I had already applied to several dozen internal positions and never got a single interview. Many were 2 paygrades down because I was desperate to stay still. Usually a denial after 2 weeks and almost always on a Sunday. Some took months to get a denial. After my last day even though I was using a personal address and I'd called in advance to make sure I'd still have access to my in-progress applications it broke everything and I never got another email again. When I got ahold of someone I was told I was just denied for every position anyway.

I knew people and usually leaders in every area I applied to, and in a "coincidence" almost none of them would talk to me anymore when I reached out before or after application. The few that did talk to me once suddenly stopped responding when I reached out again. And the fewer that I could get ahold of after said they never even saw my application when it was clear they wanted me. Learned that the resumes, and then the d-mb recorded interviews, are filtered before they ever get to leaders. And for HBAs especially (even though I was going to have to RTO in June and was willing to to stay) you were scarlett lettered. Lot of the positions I applied to half a year ago are still up, never filled.

All the other applications combined have around 5% respond within a week with a denial, 20% respond within 2 months with a denial, and 75% do not respond at all. The two times I've gotten an invite to interview they rescheduled and rescheduled, one ghosted me and the other told me they were "reviewing their interviewing practices and will contact me when they're ready again" and that was months ago. All applications have been directly on the company websites, as many as 20 in a week. I used the offboarding services they gave us to the fullest and got nowhere. I used the LinkedIn premium whatever they gave us a year code for and got nowhere.

Talking to my friends who are still there, even though I've got no money coming in pretty sure I'm happier unemployed than I would have been still there. Not sure when the end will come, just lowering my standards more and more each day trying to ride things out until I hit "desperation" time.

Were you ISP'd or VSP'd?...or just straight up fired because you didn't consume enough kool aid and asked too many questions?
