Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Anyone had any luck finding another job?

I've been trying for months. Demoralized doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.

@15t because after Trump, nepotism is leading the way once again.

This time its the wealthy and the children of the wealthy coming in. A lot of the new interns are kids of the higher ups here.

Most Americans are fiscally conservative, socially moderate, and would support ACTUAL America first policy.

It’s a damn shame we don’t have politicians like that. Some may start off this way, but they’re easily bought, easily compromised, or easily fall in love with the power and never follow through on promises.

@12g 100% agree! Everyone needs to get educated and involved. No more falling for WH lies. Research each candidate and vote intelligently. We the People can absolutely turn this around! :)

@12g and that includes exclusing Newsom and Harris and Pelosi and Chuckles and Emmanuel. Just need fresh candidates now.

@12a Basically I am working on trying to get the Democratic party before the garbage Clintons and their cronies turned it into a neoliberal mess. Working on this in my own way and so should all of you.

This means really focusing on class consciousness, not the racial divisions that these billionaires encourage.

@bn Don't just look for candidates that say they are pro-American jobs, but that are truly for AI/corporate regulations and workers' rights. Too many MAGA politicians said they are "America First" but look where they actually put the money and votes! We need the opposite of what we have now.

Still employed with Cigna, applied to 15 jobs last year when I was considering changing jobs. 13 were rejections or them pulling the job, 1 interview where I was rejected, 1 interview that I rejected them. From what I hear it’s just gotten worse. Prior to Trump I used to get interviews for almost every job I applied to.

After being out for a few months, I submitted an application for a job with a 15% paycut. I will have to see if their healthcare coverage can partially make up for it. The open market rate for family coverage is $1400/month.

I had been trying since January for jobs outside the company and found one towards the end of March and started in April. I still lurk since I have friends I still work here.

i’m a techie that’s been out since Feb 15 2024;
it’s been brutal out there. then i had to take some time off to deal with the loss of a parent last spring and to manage those affairs. getting back into it - it’s still brutal out there.

all one can do is play the hand one is dealt.
i wish i could offer better news.
