Ranking list is all set and submitted. HR will cut and execute based on the % target cuts.

Formal notices go out in mid-June. Some employees who had their account locked out unexpectedly last week got an early notice when triggers were pulled too early.

I hope your presence report is all good.

@dx the reality is that it’s normally based on ratings and rankings but if a manager can lessen the blow of letting someone go who’s willing to leave vs someone who just happens to be on the cusp of performing well/just okay, they’ll let the volunteer go first, if possible. This is if you’ve already cut the “fat”, but the cuts are deep. So you start looking at potential volunteers without being overt about it.

"Life has never been better.".....continues to visit AT&T specific layoff site a year after leaving.

It’s probably what I did last year: rivers coming out of a future layoff and I let my supervisor know that if that was the case, I would take one for the team. A.k.a. volunteer. He let me I’ve been gone for almost a year and life has never been better.

Another thing to remember is that HR decisions trump department rankings if a players not meeting minimum presence report requirements are identified. Managers not meeting requirements are targeted for termination and cannot be saved locally.

Finally something on topic on this forum. Glad to hear that layoffs are still a thing at T. Tell me more, tell me more. This is music to my ears.

“ it’s never a rating & ranking.
It’s whether I like you or not.“

Well, yes and no.

The fact that you’re not liked WILL result in a lower ranking.,

Because they absolutely do have to go through the ranking exercise.

Hearing people could volunteer but that doesn’t make sense if it’s a rating and ranking. Will there be an option to volunteer or no? Anyone know?

This is credible. It’ll be significant. I only know about NPC&E. 7/1 off payroll. Sad all around…for both those impacted and those remaining.

All those who said no to office relocations will be surplussed. In addition Centralized RAN under Vlock 10-20% RAN design engineers. MRAN increase of span and control and related reorg, C&E Wireless due to build plan reduction. Overall 10% cuts across the board company wide. Fits based on employee rankings as submitted by managers.

We were also told 10% across the board for level 1s and level 2s. The bloated fat layers are safe. You need at least four levels of VPs in your chain to project manage you.

@b0 “start working on turnovers documentation.”

Eff that!!! They want me gone, I’m taking my knowledge with me. My boss can worry about training the offshore resource!

Taking budget from the wireless tower builds and adding it to the fiber home buildout.
The layoff will hit wireless construction and engineering.

@ag I do know Walter’s, Anthony and Legg. Management only, non management not affected per our call. I don’t get on this thread much, but if you don’t believe June 16th won’t be really bad I have nothing for you.

If part of the recent account lockout issue, you should get a jump start and pack up any belonging you might currently have in the office and start working on turnover documentation.

“Will HR send a letter to affected employee stating reasons for surplus (RTO violation, etc...)?”

No. Surplus is based on manager team rankings. If surplused, you were ranked at the bottom and determined to have lower value.
