I was LR‘ed early 2024.. and today I am happy it happened then and not now. Cisco does, like most US companies, not care about employees and are unable to do a proper AOP planning - at cost of the lives of tousands of mother and fathers who have to provide to their families. I hope Karma will one day catch ELT and greedy investors like Blackrock. I am now on a better place where they hire more carefuly.

Sh-t happpens everyday and everywhere. Getting layoff is not a big deal, you will get through it. Life continuous. I got layoff back in 2024 now, now i sleep like a baby and not worry about all these layoff cr-p anymore. People will have a better day as time goes by
The only people who survive lay offs are yes men. Not talent , not $ saved . If you had a re org and manager doesn’t like you, you will end up at top of their stacked list for LR
@bc i believe that you have serious comprehension issues. i am happy for anyone, including you, who does better for themselves.
when someone 'tells' someone else to do something, they do not put it in the form of a question like i did.
maybe English isn't your first language and if it isn't please disregard my 'comprehension' line. btw that IS telling to you do disregard it. not asking.
you cannot actually be shaking your head or else we would all hear the rattling :) hehe
hurt? grow up! again telling you to grow up.
@bb seems like it hurts you that people do better somewhere else :) and idk who you are to tell someone to not post smth on this board?
@b8 did you seriously say 'sad' and then call someone a 'loser' only to come back to say you work for a different company now?
lol. pathetic.
@as I am you loser cuz my stocks at the new place are more worth than your CSCO one :)
@b1 just checking sometimes after LR news. maybe you should get a life too:)
Are you really better off? Spending time on this board two years after being let go. Very sad. I hope you can find happiness one day.
@as Look to loose more than half, when you cash out. More like 60%-plus will be lost.
For someone at ~$100k+ income, plan on giving up 30–45% of original RSU value (vesting taxation), plus loosing another 20% of gains after vest, aka long-term capital gains rates.
Choose wisely.
yeah im sure you're "happy". Meanwhile I got a lot of stocks vested from 2022-2024 grants. in 2024, and vesting of 2022-2023. They're worth more than double today :)
Just do the bare minimum. Look at what just happened. Company record profits and all time high stock price, employees are rewarded with layoffs.
Similarly restructured. I knew it would eventually happen. Survived a long time. My family planned for it to happen. We lived like we had minimal incomes, especially the last few years there. Once LR'd, it was no big deal, as we planned. We got much lower paying, and much lower stress jobs; outside of technology. We retired early, and live mostly off of the salaries of our newer jobs, making about one-third of what we did at Cisco. If someone told me Cisco would hire me back, at double my salary of when I left, I would say no way. You can't buy clarity and peace of mind. Towards the end, the last few years, I was completely miserable. I literally would pray that I was LR'd. I was, and my prayers were answered. To those staying, wishing you peace, prayer, and planning. It's your life, not Chuck's plan to stuff his pockets and jack the stock price.
I was let go in 2024 after 15 years. The process is cold to say the least, my entire group was let go and we were told directly we were being replaced by a lower cost center. This is a nice way to say you are being replaced by foreign workers (Mexico, India), now that might include AI. The "FACT" is, you are nothing more than a number on a spreadsheet. The people making these decisions do not know, you nor do they understand your job at all. Your work is not being judged in any way you are simply a number on a spreadsheet. My advice is simple... Understand working longer days and weekends for free will not change this fact. Having more certifications or degrees will not change this fact. Stepping up for the client in a pinch will not change this fact. While I applaud a good work ethic and bettering your skills just understand none of this will change "THE FACT". Instead better yourself and your skills constantly, have "FU" money ALWAYS, this enables you to weather the storm and more freedom to find a better job or even start your own company. Finally, never take it personally if you get laid off because it was the "FACT" that got you laid off not your performance.
