Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The August layoff claim is not proven...

It might happen... but people are jumping from accounting math to headcount certainty. They said fewer than 4,000 jobs in Q4. They also said notifications start 5-14 and continue globally based on local laws and regulations. OK, makes sense - it su-ks but it makes sense... That alone explains why some costs roll into FY27.

The remaining restructuring charge does not automatically mean another 4K or 5K people in Aug.... It can include severance paid later, benefits, legal and administrative costs, country-specific consultation periods, delayed effective dates, and other restructuring expenses.

Could there be mre cuts later? Sure. This's Cisco afterall. But that is different from saying Aug is confirmed...

Unless someone has an actual internal list, mgr confirmation, country schedule, or filing that says another wave is planned for Aug, the aug number is still speculation... people should stop treating it like a confirmed fact just because the 1B charge is split across Qs.

At end of fiscal year, Cisco moves money around. BUs that lose money need to layoff.

BUs that are unsure of next year budget may need to wait until August.

May is early for Cisco layoff. However, laying off sooner, saves money sooner and can result in a smaller layoff than if it came later.

Unfortunately, Cisco layoff is an annual tradition. I often see predictions of 10% or more but it usually ends up 4-5%%.

software centric BUs will continue to be pressed in 2027 as CISCO does not know how to make them successful. Security, Splunk, Collab Hardware is fine till the AI bubble cool downs...

The month is irrelevant. 100% it is going to happen again, and keep happening. Hail AI.

look at the earnings report or wait for beyond the numbers...if those clearly struggling BU's don't dig out of their graves you think you will be safe if you're in NA? hopium doesnt pay the bills.

@OP my trustworthy source told me there would be two rounds: one in May for some BUs, one (bloodbath) in August for other BUs.

The deadline for the August list is in late July. VPs have the final say.

As I said in another thread

The second half is for countries like the UK who have long redundancy processes. People there will not learn they are on the chopping block for another 2-3 months.
