Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I suggest it is time for a Union.

I also suggest that maybe everyone below grade 8 should simply not work for a week, everyone call in sick a sick out is what is needed to wake them up.

Good luck. They will just terminate you and send the jobs to India. An IT Union would be a joke and have no power.

Unions are no protection from LR. just look at the automakers who have to deal with the Teamsters of all unions. they cut heads at will too. Unions (today) only exist to get their leaders rich. They don't give two sh--s about you.

@OP I agree and would be in favor of a Union. This company just put nearly $4B in the bank and they have to lay people off? They are doing so to protect their 65%+ profit margin which protects the stock price which pays the executives. Take a look the insider trading site and see how much the people who made these decisions are getting paid.

You didn’t get this job because of the union, so why now? Is it because you fear layoffs? You should have accepted the risk when joining the corporate world, no job is guaranteed.

Say goodbye to all your misc benefits, day for me, VTO, a percent of pay raises, etc.. and say hello to union dues. have fun with that sh-t.

I’m down but the libertarian sect of nerd-dom will hate the idea for hand wavy reasons.
