Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

We've become the surveillance state

I feel watched constantly. My keystrokes, my mouse moves, my breaks, my location. It's oppressive and intrusive. RTO has ruined this place.

I used to work there in IT. Trust me, they are watching everything! We can even remote on to your computer without you even knowing it and look through things if we are told to.

I am not sure what you consider a "Fat Severence" but unless you are a VP (It's possible) your likely severance package will be at most 10 weeks, (based on years of service) plus 2 weeks post notice period. Three months is not a fat severance. And if you have been @OTEX only a few years it will be far less.
Maybe just start putting a few items in place (maybe update CV, LinkedIn profile). Take old colleagues out to lunch or if not same Geo, catch up on a zoom call. Network.

Lastly OTEX is looking to terminate people for cause....
Ie: Suddenly (regardless of the actual quality of your work) you may find yourself on a PIP.

My point is put a few things in place so if the ax falls you have a running start. Good Luck

It's always been this way. You're on a computer network you don't own doing work that doesn't benefit you directly. Why would you assume anything otherwise?

Thanks for the advice but I'm gonna stick it out; providing limited value, wasting time and corporate resources, and being all-around unpleasant. Paychecks are paychecks and it's not like there are hundreds of amazing alternatives.

Happy to take a fat severance and be on my way, but not before then.

You cannot escape a surveillance state, but you can escape OTEX.

Stop complaining and leave. It will not improve.
