Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Im out!

30% TTC increase, fully remote. And a place thats investing in its workforce rather than gutting the talent.

Fvck that dysfunctional cesspool. Sorry for you all still stuck there. there are better options, just need to plan for much longer hiring cycle times.

@bz That's nice, where I live theres exactly 2 doctors on the Aetna within an hour drive. When we were with blue cross there was closer to 200. The nearest in network hospital is abysmal post operative infection rates and the specialists there recommended I have my gal bladder removed when my appendix was thevreal pronmblem. It burst the next day while I was at home and rhe ambulance tooknme to the nearest hostital as I could have died. Aetna tried to weasel its way out of paying several hundred thousand dollars because I "elected to go to an out of network facility" Also I have been needing shoulder surgery for about 3 years now and have had multiple doctors/specialists write letters to Aetna verifying that it is indeed a necessary surgery for long term pain relief and to restore full range of motion. Aetna still won't approve it....

@cs If they think their company is a nine, then every other company that is in business is a 10.Dell is a 1 or 2 at best.Any company that forces employees to fill out spreadsheets with arcane false numbers to inform VPs and SVPs so they can create PowerPoint slides for the next Quaterly review is a dinosaur looking for a tar pit to fall into.
The company is so far behind with business tools for employees it’s incredible there are any sales at all.

same but with a 60% TTC increase and title bump! similar industry, not a direct competitor. new company has its own issues like anywhere but the laid back calm attitude from everyone, lack of micro managing, and emphasis on actual real modern tools or whatever (for starters they had claude/gemini/chatgpt/copilot/etc available to all employees mid-last year, and have a process of encouraging people to adopt AI tools that involves exactly Zero weekly time-wasting forced KPIs) is night & day.

to anyone who’s employed thinking about interviewing elsewhere, do it and do NOT be scared to reject offers/wait for the right opportunity while doing the minimum necessary to get paid & not let good coworkers down. that’s what I did. to anyone who got laid off, wait for the right opportunity as much as your savings allow. no matter which situation you’re in it will get so much better.

Congrats. I think one thing Dell is good at is gaslighting its employees.

Dell is a 4, that thinks of itself as a 9.

@by I've had alot of health issues lately and Aetna has covered it. I did utilize the benefitpro a few times to review and fight bills that I did not think were necessary and they took care of it.

@bw I agree with your sentiment, but Dell offers by far the worst health insurance I have ever had.

@aj describes me to a T.. None of this is meaningful work and it certainly is not fulfilling in the slightest. But, the check clears every other friday and the insurance is good so what's a man to do?

I left a couple of months ago. WFH. Bout the same pay. Way more work and a bit stressful. But in a good way. It doesn’t feel good to work at a place where you know your work is completely meaningless and you can quiet quit without anyone knowing.
