Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

found a job

was laid off in January but finally landed a new gig this week, now I can cash out the remaining few months of my severance. definitely a tough job market. Spent the last 4 months applying for jobs and upskilling my tech stack. I applied for over 350 jobs, about 30% got thanks but no thanks emails, 67% completely ghosted, and the remainder varying forms of interviews. while the new job pays a little less than wf, but has a lot of career upside, great benefits, and in office requirements are much less stringent. Definitely a different job market, but there are jobs out there. try not to get discouraged

Where did you land your new job?

Really glad I read this thread today! I wasn’t sure if landing a new job meant sacrificing the severance money.
Thank you, OP!

my severance has been paid out every 2 weeks, same as your pay day. the only deviation was the cutover between the end of my 60 day period and the start of severance. on my last day of employment (60 days) which was between Kay periods I received my final paycheck which covered the last 2 weeks up to that day since you are always a week in arrears plus my accrued PTO. severance payments then started 3 weeks later. as for cashing out the remainder of my severance, that just means I will submit a form to request a lump sum payment of the remaining amount. while I can continue to receive bi weekly payments and get health benefits, I no longer need the benefits as I'll get them through my new job, plus I'd rather put that lump sum into my retirement and start making as much on it as possible now.

Your summary actually makes it sound the opposite of what you assert.

"I can cash out the remaining few months of my severance."

What does that mean?

@OP Were you paid in one lump sum or were you bi-weekly paychecks continued?
