We brought someone onto my team last month who used to be a senior manager at a major tech firm. Over a decade of management experience. Two decades total in the industry. He's now an individual contributor at a mid level role. It really shows how quickly a career you spent years building can evaporate.

Why are you even here if you have a problem with capitalism? Blaming capitalism, and boomers for that matter, as a scapegoat for your inability to succeed is evident. I don't even know what you reference to "carrier" is supposed to mean. I never wrote that word. Or is that just more of your bad spelling. @646 First off, boomers and those those with careers know how to spell "you're." Second, anyone throwing around the word "capitalist" should just head back to the commune where they will fit in and have no need for a career.
This may be shocking for a boomer, but for many younger generations the "career building" concept is one of the most ridiculous ones. Why put your own life path into a capitalist company's hands, that views you purely as a "resource"?
If your a resource for the company, then a company is a resource for you.

I’m a previous Director who took an individual contributor role - ON PURPOSE. At this stage of my life, I too want to leave at the end of my shift and turn my work cellphone off. $hit is hitting the fan? Not my direct problem. I sleep like a baby at night.
