Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I doubt the truthfulness of most posters here

Really? You are that unhappy being so well paid, having world class facilities and being associated with great athletes? Things are so terrible.

Also, no one is ever specific at all. Bot much?

Why are bots after Nike?

I worked at Nike for close to a decade, and the first 8 years were the best professional years of my life.

It’s bizarre that you complain, complain, complain here…but don’t seem to have the cajones to stand up for yourself, have an honest conversation with your boss, or just leave if you are so terribly unhappy. Of course this is giving the benefit of the doubt that you aren’t bots and trolls.

Nike was built on people that had the courage to work through this type of pettiness.

yes yes but what about CS at APLA? lolol…

OK that useless sentence about the local troll here was more entertaining at least.

It’s not bots. It’s just one obnoxious person with no life writing 90% of posts in a desperate attempt to keep this forum active. They mistakenly think that investing hours every day to spite this company somehow brings meaning to their life.

OP, are you good though?

People are entitled to feel and express how they experienced the company regardless of how it hurts your feelings. You may have had a good experience. A lot of people did not. I’m not from tech, and my experience was atrocious. We all travel in different lanes, with different reporting chains, and certainly different managers. Some people who were treated as I was find solace in knowing that others feel similarly. Your experience is not mine, my experience is not yours. PS: I’m not a bot, nor a troll, just a former employee that has the right to express myself how I see fit.

I hope you find something more productive to do with your time.

Nike is an amazing company to work for as many people have pointed out. The people that frequent these boards tend to skew toward people that work in Tech. I work in Nike Tech that work closely with the business so I see both sides. The Tech side doesn't represent all of Nike but it truly is as bad as people here claim it to be. VP roles are taken over by Indians while jobs are being moved to India. I really hate to make this about race but it's hard not to notice every reorg someone with an Indian name gets promoted to Sr. Dir or VP roles. CPI, for example, added 3 new Sr. Dir who happen to all be Indian. They may be the most suitable for the job and the CPI VP being Indian himself has nothing to do with it, but when you're the ones losing your job or not getting promoted, it's hard not to get frustrated.

@OP, are you doing okay? Your post sounds pretty inconsistent and really frustrated. It’s fair to defend your experience at Nike, but calling people names while complaining about pettiness doesn’t come across very well.
Also, either the complaints here are fake, in which case they aren’t worth engaging with, or they’re real concerns that deserve more than insults. Either way, if this place clearly has no value to you beyond irritating you, maybe take your own advice and just leave instead of bi--hing about the quality of posts.

OP, as a former employee why are you living in the past on this board?
I feel bad for you, you must have terribly low standards for yourself with this vantage point shared.

Not even getting paid and still licking boots

You come to a layoff site filled with bots and trolls to get news about a stock you should have sold years ago?

Here’s something specific… you’re full of s h i t

@an join the real world. Virtually every company is laying people off. It’s only going to become more rampant. And in Portland, Nike is one of the better paying jobs, with great amenities. Nike is a company, not a trip to Disney world.

Morale is low because of repeated layoffs and restructuring and constant chaos and corporate dysfunction. It's not surprising. I like my coworkers and the Nike gyms but the problems are real, and you'll find that morale is low if you talk to people in person too.

@ah I left the nest job I ever had because I moved with my family. And I check this website occasionally to see if there is any real news that impacts the stock I still hold. And all I see if trolls and bots, offering no specific Information, just seeking to disrupt instead of contributing in any meaningful way. And here you are, with no specificity and an ad hominem attack instead of anything related to any company strategy. Why? Because you don’t know, and you aren’t a part of it.

And that is WAY more embarrassing. For you.

@OP why did you leave the best job you ever had and why are you out defending a company you are no longer at after a layoff on your weekend time? I think the real truth to discover here is what VP this is.

@a6 again, non specific, not tethered to any points I made. I don’t work at Nike. I doubt you do either. Your post is an ad hominem attack, with no specificity, and of no value.

@a1 yup, including OP. OP is so triggered by his teammates opinion that he feels the need to create several posts iterating that Nike is a for profit company in a capitalist country so all workers should just shut up and be happy with the status quo because they get a decent paycheck. OP please take a good look in the mirror. Maybe you’re the reason we are in this slump. May I suggest a crazy idea? Why not look at all of the “complaints” and see what the common themes are and see what we can do to build back up our brand? It’s almost as if this would make too much sense.

90% of posts are the same person. You can by the style of writing.
