Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Layoffs in June?

Somebody asked me if I had heard of any layoffs coming in June yesterday. Since I haven't seen anything posted here I think the answer is no? Has anyone heard anything?

@na In case this hasn’t become abundantly clear yet, leadership doesn’t give a sh*t. They just want butts in seats.

@n8 Because the most talented people in the world live in a commutable distance to the NYC and LA offices. Someone living in Texas, GA, or Florida live there because they are lacking the talent people in NY and LA have. Duh.

@m9 Yes, they are only hiring in locations near major offices, and new hires are required to come in, even if the rest of their team has been excused from RTO. Make it make sense.

@m9 it's almost like when you pay remote rates for 5 days in person work, you won't get anyone to hire!

@kj are they still requiring in office for those open roles? What makes Paramount standout compared to other hybrid or remote positions. They shot themselves with RTO.

@kh Relax. Internal referrals, especially in the tech space, are always more effective that recruiters cold calling people off LinkedIn.

internal email begging us to recruit for the "number of roles" and "amplify" job positions across our network (lol - "and dont forget to tag us, u plebs!") uhh maybe have your talent acquisition person do that. fcking embarrassing.

@jr I guess you can’t read? It said “in most divisions”. Critical roles will still get hired. Other than that why hire people when we are buying a whole company with talent? It’s pretty basic.

hiring is put on hold? So disregard the tone deaf email that just went out begging us to post on LinkedIn and recruit for the company? In exchange for a few bucks?

@fw Paramount is buying WBD.

They will look at the WBD org charts, see who they want to keep, and the WBD orgs will eventually be folded into the current Paramount orgs.

@fh that would have been me and the same person who posted below. Nobody listens here and I have always been right about what’s going on. Guess I should change my username to a common name so people know what I am saying is truthful.

@e8 every role will surely be considered duplicative if two major studios are merging, no? Where does the line cross? For example, I’m in Marketing. Will those depts at WB and Paramount still run as separate entities, therefore won’t be considered duplicative?

@cq if anyone is coming off as obnoxiously “all knowing” it’s you, my dude. Reminder that there are definitely HR people who post here and are usually pretty accurate. The last time someone was semi-vague about Phase 2 RTO, their predictions were mostly true. When there are only a select few in the know, they can’t exactly out themselves by giving away information.

@cw This is actually one of the more relevant posts on this board, asking about layoffs on a site called “thelayoff.com” so if you’re not interested, just scroll on by.

@cw yet here you are doing the thing you're all worked up about. go call your mom, loser.

@cq wrong. I know what is going on at the company. Hiring is being put on hold due to WBD in most divisions and we have no planned mass layoffs. The layoffs will come once the acquisition is completed and duplicative roles are identified as savings targets will need to be met. Sorry I had to spell out the obvious for you.

Somebody asked me about something somewhere so I thought I'd just post something stupid just for the sake of posting something because I can't go a single day without posting something totally benign and interesting and irrelevant & vague

@b3 if there's been small pockets of layoffs please mention where they were - this site is quickly becoming a jigsaw puzzle with no pieces to put the puzzle together. Give us a clue as to what area they chipped away at

@bv no layoffs yet? What the heck does that even mean? Prey tell who are you coming off as some all knowing being that knows about the dozens of units in this configuration of media companies. For crying out loud just state what company you're at and what company you're speaking for - because you don't have the slightest idea what is going on in any other division but yours. It's just a valueless comment you just posted. Do better

I haven’t heard anything but there have been some smaller layoffs recently. Not enough to make a large splash but I have seen more people leaving as well.
