And all I can feel is relief. Witnessing the slow, steady decline from the company I joined to what it is today wasn't exactly a pleasant experience for someone who actually liked their job and wanted to be good at it. I wish everyone good luck, and may we all end up in companies where work feels worthwhile.

It doesn’t matter how long you have worked for regarding the considerations for RIF. Be an effective and valuable employee and don’t take your job for granted. RIF can come anytime and anyone (especially those bad workers) so work effectively and efficiently to minimize any regrets.
@an dude how miserable do you have to be in life for this to be the only way you can get attention from people? Get a life dude and maybe then people will be able to tolerate you!
As layoff season approached, there was a shared sentiment across my OU: if we were affected, at least we wouldn’t have to continue to push through chronic burnout, a toxic culture, and poor management. When the layoffs were announced, that sense of relief remained. Very telling of the state of the company when a large group of people would feel relief rather than grief when laid off.
Go get a job and get back to work.
Sorry you got RIFed after 11 years. Good luck on your next role!
I’m sorry you’re going through this. Please take care of yourself. I was part of last year’s spring layoff and was relieved for the same reasons, but depression took hold a couple of months afterwards.
I hope that doesn’t happen to you and you’re able to find the right fit for your next chapter.
