Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Medtronic PR spins layoff chatter as “rumors”

another sign that modern day Medtronic lacks the values of the company founded by Earl is the Medtronic PR spin that layoffs are just “rumors.” To show professionalism toward the possibly thousands of employees who were let go this week, it would go a long way to publicly acknowledge layoffs, thank former employees for their work, and speak to how it is a consequence of re-organization, even if layoffs really are a result of executive incompetence more than anything.

Workers bought into the company. They dedicated years of their lives to the mission. They played the game and built careers here. There’s no reason to pretend they never existed. It’s amazing how PR works so hard to defend the company’s public image at the expense of tanking morale internally. It really is shameful.

Well said OP. Sadly, it’s no longer Earl’s Medtronic. It’s become GE Medtronic. Employees are commodities under this regime. Whereas Earl saw the value in employees as people, rewarded performance and appreciated longevity and loyalty. This regime ki-led that culture and commitment to the mission. The collapsing stock price is a reflection of how badly this leadership is failing while other companies in the same sector are thriving. Being part of a RIF may be a blessing in disguise. It could lead you to a job somewhere else where you find a job stability and feel valued. Historically MDT has offered a decent severance package.

This is plain gutless action from classless leadership.

It should be public the number of layoffs. Maybe if CNBC or other business news outlets push they will disclose something.
