Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

5 days in office is ki-ling productivity

My life is ruined, my daycare bill is up , and over an hour commute to this sh---y Dallas building with sh-t parking and rediculous gas prices, this company is a joke, everyone is exhausted and less productive professionally and personally

Come on now. I put a good three hours of work in every day.

I got so much more done at home: laundry, grocery shopping, dinner prep.

Job requirements can change at any time.

Stankey is altering the deal. Pray he doesn't alter it any further.

MANY folks worked remote for years before the plannedemic/balogna v1rus.

If you were hired to work remote then you have a legitimate complaint. I highly doubt that's the case here.

@er Many employees had to get badges and access cards because they had worked from home for 5, 10, even 20 years and had never stepped foot in a company building. The ones I met were from companies acquired by T and were allowed to keep working their original company’s set up. That’s why some people live hours away from a company building; a T building location was never a factor when they took the job.

The company does not tell you where to live and how to live your life outside of work. It just cares you come to work like everyone did pre-COVID.

Mentioning daycare removes any credibility with a post against RTO.

RTO did not improve productivity, but it also did not harm it. Today's complaining unproductive office worker was just as ineffective when working from home.

Are you really working at home?

“Resign and apply at T Mobile or Verizon. All the "experts" on this forum say that they still have WFM”

Hey dimwitted “whelp” guy…

You understand that’s not a difficult thing to verify right?

I know management at both. And they do both follow the industry standard of a structured hybrid schedule. And they don’t monitor badge swipes or LAN time or have reports documenting such.

Have you asked about switching to part-time status? You would only have to come in 2-3 days per week.

@a5 No genius. If you have any brains you would know that daycare charges go up significantly if you are late or need to pay for extended care, like due to longer commutes. Working from home helps you avoid those extra charges.

Pointless commutes for the purpose of feeding a CEO’s massive ego or protecting real estate investments drive up the costs to people without 8-figure compensation and nannies to offset it.

@OP

hey, i hear you and i know things feel really heavy right now… the commute, the daycare costs, all of it adds up and its genuinely a lot to deal with. but venting like this isnt going to change any of it and honestly it brings the whole team down when morale is already low. We need you to find a way to push through because the work still needs to get done and the company needs everyone pulling their weight right now. if you have real concerns talk about them properly, through the right channels, because there may be options you havent explored yet like anti depressants & alcohol. but showing up defeated every day isnt fair to you or anyone else around you

“ my daycare bill is up.”

This argument actually supports strict RTO. Home daycare was a leading driver for 5x8.

Yeah well they better care. They’re about to have no one left. I’ve never seen people leaving at this rate, and it’s all the best people.
