Following up on a previous post about Directors being required to list what they do to earn their paychecks. Anyone heard anything new on this? "Was asked to put in four bullets what my role is with metrics supporting it? Can’t say “Oversees” or anything high level. Is Director level being hit next?"

@3k8 You are blaming Gen Z - what about people who have worked here for 15+ yrs and are now treated the worst in their life They have seen their co workers get Rif'd, they can't get a decent raise since they "make too much money" - they are treated like they haven't done the same job for a decade and suddenly are micromanaged and disrespected. It wasn't always this way, otherwise people would not have stayed this long.
This place is toxic, it is not respected in the community, it does not value quality it values obedience.
@1kb Those are GenZ. Ignore them. They will continue to fail until they accept life isn't going to be handed to them.
This is going on all over the country and they're even more vocal and whining on reddit. It's THEM getting laid off at record levels because most superiors and managers know they are entitled brats who expect 6 figures for nothing straight out of college.
They just want you to feel their fear in hopes you'll "join their fight". Some generations are just plain failures.
This used to be a site with some useful insights. It’s become a place to vent and spew bile and vitriol. Very indicative of the stress the company has us under and the decay of societal norms. Sad to see, but it’s the law of entropy at work on us all.
damn this place is all about people just b*tching and blaming others in life.
Directors have been RIFd the last 2 years in some LOB/work areas. They are not exempt from losing their jobs.
@j5 It is probably AI searching through data to find information to justify riffing one person versus another.
@j5 Workday too. It was acting all wonky yesterday.
So funny, every time RIFs are coming, there is an increase in people saying their teams or outlook is acting funny…. Every….single….time. Not sure if this is due to the org updates that are needed in the backend or what.
The director-level individual contributors titles allow career progression for people who manage large projects, budgets, etc. - but "director" has never seemed like the right title in my mind. Director of what?
@dy There are plenty of managers with a ton of responsibility who will never make director and have zero chance of progression. This company is far too bloated.
A person might be a director without direct reports because they have responsibility that is considered to be at a relatively high level.
For example of marketing Director, who has a multimillion dollar budget etc. this person might manage multiple vendors in agencies and so on. So while they might not manage any staff here, they are considered to be Director level in terms of their relative responsibility.
I am in E – 14 myself though I do not have director in my title anywhere
@b7 I have no direct reports and I was asked to do this. I know they’ve RIF’d several people in my role over the past year.
@b7 is director in front or behind your title? Dir in front is a people leader- behind is a dir equivalent (no direct reports).
@OP There are Directors who are really Director equivalents and have no direct reports. Those exist on the CarelonRx side in SAM.
Why is someone a Director with no direct reports? Another layer of bloat just like VP's Staff VP, RVP etc. Maybe rid the place of bloat might save jobs of the peon workers
I am a Director but I do not have any direct reports. I have not been asked to provide documentation regarding my work. Are they only targeting Directors that have people reporting to them?
I’m a director and was asked to do the same thing. Huge red flag.
The last time I worked for a company that required this kind of sh-t, it was a very small organization headed by a micromanager CEO who didn't trust that anyone was doing their jobs while he was on the golf course four days a week. Never thought I'd seen this kind of thing in a company this large.
In that case, he was just a weirdo. In this case, it certainly sounds like a Hunger Games style fight to keep your jobs.
I hope this is just an unfounded and untrue rumor.
Following this sh-t… Godspeed everyone
