Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Delighting Customers Shouldn’t Mean Draining Employees

Gas is creeping dangerously close to $5 a gallon yet we’re still expected to commute into the office three days a week. That disconnect is hard to ignore. Between rising fuel costs, time lost in traffic, the requirement feels increasingly out of step with reality.

What makes it more frustrating is that we talk a lot about “delighting customers” and being “customer-obsessed,” but there seems to be far less focus on the growing stress being placed on employees. It’s hard to sustain that level of care externally when internally, people are feeling stretched, unheard, and impacted by decisions of this AI-obsessed CEO. If the work is getting done just as effectively remotely, it’s fair to question whether this policy still makes sense for both employees and the company.

Can you hear me now Dan?

Yeah, I know you don’t care. Your laughing all the way to the bank.

@ca

If we do, will you finally stop bootlicking? Or is it an ingrained component of your core personality by now?

Ask one of the 17,000 employees just laid off at Spirit Airlines if they wouldn’t mind commuting three days a week stop crying if you don’t like the commute then quit or move closer

I must be in the wrong department. We have been told three days a week in office is still mandatory and the norm.

Employment is an at-will state (except for Montana).

The Employer or Employee can terminate Employment at any time.

I work in New York City office. They gave us the go-ahead to work from home til the new office buildout is completed next winter. I have to say it’s a huge relief!!!!!!

@ae, @a5
in all hand, ~ 2 months ago, before the office closure annoucement
the EVP said if you can WFH, then you can continue to WFH
It is up to your manager or function of your team
if it is required you to come to office, then come to office, otherwise continue to WFH
Hope this help

We were specifically told we must still come to office 3 days a week, even when the majority of employees accross the country are going full time wfh. Make that make sense! Morale is $hit. They will continue to get less and less from us…..
