Unions have bankrupted many corporations, forcing benefits for retirees well past their working years. Everyone ended up losing because there was nothing left. Be careful what you wish for.
In the history of organized labor, Unions are great for due process, bargaining for better wages and benefits, and most importantly, increasing workplace safety. Holding back technological advances is an area they have some success organizing around but no success in reaching the goal of stopping the replacement of jobs, if that is a result of the new technology.
