Any experience with being “overpaid” and having to pay the company back? I’ve heard many people over the years having to pay back supposed owed money due to either being paid more because of some pay reconciliation or after having EDB, then between Sunlife and payroll there being a discrepancy. Is this another instance where the law doesn’t apply to this organization? Can they ask and expect money overpaid to be repaid, or is this dependent on how long ago it was discovered? Asking for a friend…

There's a 'claim' on my paystub for the first time this year. Heard the same from others. Any insight? EE contribution to buying another building for collaboration?
Talk to a lawyer. They’ll likely tell you that in Alberta they can only go back 6 months to recover accidental overpayments
Company will absolutely take over payments directly out of your paycheck. Even if it means you going a couple months without one. This is common for expats and rotators.
This has happened to me several times. If it is a payroll overpayment, have them garnish wages until it is repaid so that you don't have to pay back the taxes to the company that they paid to the government on your behalf.
The company is within their rights to recover accidental overpayment.
There was recently a case in the US where a woman got jail time for refusing to repay and overpayment.
They will file an 8010 and you can be fired if not paid

You don't know the law. It's legal. You can negotiate a payment plan.
