Honestly, I was happy to be laid off. The company is not what it use to be. I was there for over 30 years and this has been the happiest I have been in the last 5 years. Staples is not the company to work for. I was informed that many of my team mates were let go that was working on projects to make Staples a better company.
Seriously? Leaders that were laid off all came from industry were all tenured and higher paid. Removed because they didn’t agree with Sycamore model of cut, cut, cut.
Concerted effort to remove salary in favor of unqualified leaders from outside who were paid even more and don’t know their head from a hole in the ground.
Marketplace. Reduced margin and canibolization from organic business. Good for you Amazon and Walmart. Sales for you. Net loss for Staples. Just a tool to lift income at expense of profit.
Amazon returns - not driving store traffic.
Party city - new money losing venture.
Door Dash - another play to grow income with no profit.
Current management is like a senior thesis. Previous management could have saved this company. DOOM. WINTER IS COMING.
