Recycling bins deception

I was sorting my waste on campus and the janitor said not to bother because they throw it all away. I wonder if true?

We need a big bin for people in management-I'm very fine with throwing the bin away no recycling is needed as we are producing this type of trash non stop

Houston recycling works the same as enterprise sales.
Step 1: Sell a highly sophisticated system that works beautifully...as long as inputs are perfectly sorted, categorized, and uncontaminated.
Step 2: Deploy it into the real world, where none of that is true.
Step 3: Act confused when it quietly fails at scale.
From what the city has said, ExxonMobil helped promote the vision of advanced recycling systems. The catch is these systems require a level of sorting discipline no city has the time, money, or manpower to maintain.
So the green bin has become a very optimistic and very expensive holding container for future landfill.
Garbage in, garbage out. Just with a sustainability logo on it.
