Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Setting boundaries

Going forward...

  • 8 hours a day. max
  • uninstalling BYOD
  • if asked to travel the answer is No
  • save your pizza parties and team building. if i'm not working, i'm going home

not good enough? bring on the PIP. Will gladly take it and the package when laid off. Not everyone will leave on their own without for free

If you are salaried then the amount of hours is not limited to 8 hours per day, your commitment is measured by your job role. If you are not fulfilling your job description then you will be subject performance conversations. If you are hourly then you should already be limited to 8 (working hours - so 9 hours a day including the 1 hour non-paid lunch) because overtime is exception based already.

Pulling social media meme based “boundary games” will end you up in performance issues that could end with you being exited and that will impact your ability to land another position.

@OP FYI if you are on a PIP there is no package, you are just gone. There are no legal requirements or protections.

The folks on H1B will pick up the slack. They are deathly afraid of losing their job and H1b status.

I tried to skip the last pizza party my department had but I wasn’t allowed. I felt bullied into eating the pizza
