Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

TSI - What’s the point?

Over 6 months into having a BP Staff TSI Engineer take over from a UK based Engineer in my team who was let go.

Myself, and increasingly several others from other disciplines are needing to step in and coach, and correct mistakes from our TSI. Mistakes that rarely happened before and if they did could be sorted over a desk not over time zones.

The bar to entry has been set so incredibly low just to get bodies in chairs.

Yes, they are on 40% of the money, but the output is half, the support required is 4x and it’s demoralising us who are left.

If this is good business I’ll have my hand firmly in the air at the next EOI.

I’m really loving the same tired wells employee that’s on all these posts complaining about the same things every time. The upside is they outed themselves by name dropping who they had lunch with the other day.

I do wonder if the Exec do actually know how terrible the consequences of TSI incompetence can be or if they are just oblivious.

And if you ask the VP that works in wells that goes by “Serpa” snake, they are the best thing ever! Especially since she wanted to try them out first; however, her minions will disagree. They are having the same problems, sub-par work and having to deal with people coming from a “servant-type” culture and don’t think for themselves. They on do “exactly” what they are told are asked for…

My take is 80% of TSI are useless, the next 10% acceptable and 10% are excellent.

Demoralising is putting it politely.
In my dept we have seen an influx in all aspects from TSI and yet to find one that can even resemble a rubbish UK Ex colleague.
Uk Contractors were out if not capable but you say a bad thing about TSI and have your line manager with complaints. No lie !!!! I have had several about ME. Me who never asked to hand hold and mentor these people...with Zero thanks. They take take take ! And take credit for my work.
