Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Fascinating

As an Ex-Frontier person I was warned about the culture in Verizon.

Boy were they right - it is deeply, deeply toxic. Battle hardened silos, everyone covering their as--s, no one accountable for decisions, leadership that doesn’t have a clue about leading (or telecoms for that matter), passive aggressive behaviors everywhere and at the top of it all a bunch of leaders who are happy clappy about the future with no real desire to lean in to changing the underlying culture. So no surprise that the awesome team at Frontier has now almost all left. Will be fascinating to see how the financial performance of the old Frontier business develops, or will it become invisible and quietly disappear to be written off, just as with all VZ acquisitions. Remember Blue Jeans, Yahoo, Terramark etc etc. The street should be punishing these guys.

@a7 Frontier went bankrupt under the previous leadership. The current team were all new and did an amazing job of giving this company a future, as witnessed by Verizon paying $22b for something that 5 years previously had zero equity value. The leadership team didn’t ’run away’, they could see the way Verizon operates and were smart enough to see it has a ‘troubled’ future. You would do the same….

@g7 You clearly have zero understanding of the market dynamics. Convergence will drive everything and the US wireless market structure is broken. Wake up.

@gc Well, actually I am. And you seem to dibble total nonsense, so probably have never been more than a low-level grunt….

@g7 what do you think fiber is. It’s wireline. No one is stupid enough to think that copper is still viable. That’s as silly as thinking wireless 5g was anything more than a marketing ploy. Now that it’s clear that failed and Verizon needs more money to dig themselves out of they buy back their money maker. You’re kind of clueless aren’t you. Clearly not an ex GTE employee.

Frontier is loaded with lazy people who think wireline is still the money maker. They only bought you for the fiber backbone, everything else they are ready to cut and trash. POTS line? No one cares! Technology of the past.

I want VZ to file BK so we can be gobbled up by a serious company that isn’t run like a charity

I worked at both companies. VZ has way better benefits and Frontier has more lazy people.

Verizon sold to Frontier the old Gte pieces in California, Texas and Florida. There was a lot of Frontier besides that that did the buying. They turned their business around and we decided we wanted their footprint. So here we are.

Frontier inclusion into Verizon's infrastructure will go as well as previous acquisitions of the past, ProtectWise, BlueJeans, Cybertrust, Tracfone (2 plus years), PCI architecture missing, PCI reporting not easily accessible to leadership. Pivot tables on dated .csv files. Dated Confluence pages. Leadership only acknowledging their direct reports versus the resources that do all the hands on work where Senior Directors are to lazy to do their own project timelines.

Didn’t Frontier declare bankruptcy a few years ago? The “awesome team from Frontier” cashed in their stock the day after the sale and ran away with their pockets full. It had nothing to do with either companies culture.
