When can I start applying for Unemployment Benefits from California?
If WARN ends on 6/1/2026, can I start applying for it now? Or do I need to wait till get the lump sum payment after 6/1?

One important thing to remember.. in CA you get MAX 6 months of benefits. Let's say you sit tight for 1st two months & don't talk to CA EDD, you will end up with ONLY 4 months of benefits. So stay top with CA EDD. One mistake & they will make you run like crazy
I would wait for the day of actual termination.
I started getting peanuts from CA EDD after 1 week of cooling period. That was in September 2025 cut
After the notification period ends as technically you are still employed. Even if you apply arnd are found eligible you would be just wasting two months of benefits as EDD wouldn't pay you anything because you are receiving wages much higher than the weekly benefit.
