Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

I've noticed an unusual number of people around me getting put on PIP

Is this a sign they're ramping up attrition, or am I just seeing isolated cases?

@ag That's bullsh-t. More than 50% finish PIPs successfully. I work in HR.

It’s a classic setup to make RIFing you easier. Medtronic is outsourcing so many jobs to India. It’s only a matter of time I’ll be put on a PIP because I refuse to work 10 hour days like my Indian counterparts.

PIP is a classic, "Its time to look else where for a job" In 20yrs I've never heard someone survived a PIP. They are a setup for you to fail regardless of hard you try to be successful.

@OP Interesting. I think your attrition theory makes the most sense. Hope people resign saves $
