I was in the office and there was a lady repeatedly peeking into all the focus/conferences rooms on my floor. Not sure if she was just a busy body or it was her job. I hope people continue to use those rooms so at least there’s less people in open areas. There’s little to no separation between the cube spaces and it gets loud. Funny how it’s acknowledged that those rooms help people to focus yet there is a horrible open space design everywhere with no effort to make it a better experience.

@cj that’s why, before I was recently laid off, I brought my iPad to work, put on my headphones and watched whatever I wanted to watch while I was working and even if I wasn’t watching it, it was background noise. I didn’t have to listen to yap yap yap of all these other employees.
They are making sure that people are not using focus rooms as nursing stations, instead the space is being properly utilized by those needing proper rest.
Considering the never ending stream of lies spewing out of HY, that feeling is very mutual.
@nm unless it's security, shouldn't they working instead of wandering around being nosy. I mean this isn't elementary school, but the way they act towards remote work, I can see why. They don't trust anyone lol.

The reason people seem like they’re peeking into the windows of the rooms is because the lights are out and can’t see if there’s anybody in there
@c0 I used to sit in that building and noticed the same thing but they never talked to anyone. On a side note. I hate the open floor plan, it’s designed to make us miserable. One thing that comforts me is that the execs on the exec floor experience the same floor plan. When people say that we shouldn’t complain about RTO because we came 5x/wk before 2020, they seem to forget that we had some decency and privacy with actual cubes. It’s not the same.

@OP I don’t work in office but I have heard from others that the focus rooms have to be scheduled. Not sure if that’s true or not but I do know they can be permanently assigned to an individual due to an accommodation.
I used to go in the conference rooms and close the door and then take various pictures of the desks, chairs, floor shots etc.
Then at later time use these photos as background elements in some fantasy videos with some edited clips from other videos to make a realistic scene...
@ef Lets go after people who move people stuff off unassigned desks as well.
Let’s go after the people who put personal items on unassigned cubes in their attempt to reserve them for themselves next.
They wouldn't have to do this if people could just be respectful of rules
As they should be checking. The 6th floor of Iselin is well known for this behavior. There is a blonde woman and a man with a military style haircut who believe they have ownership over the focus rooms. I do not care about your position on the org chart or how significant you believe yourself to be, those rooms do not belong to you. If you consider yourself so important, then secure an office at HY and endure the commute!
@cj if people sit in them all day, then nobody else can use them for meetings. And thus making the cube farm louder as you said.
Why are they trying to make the experience more and more miserable. So they want it so no one uses those rooms? Instead of doing that they should be adding more quiet areas. Kind of ridiculous sitting in the cubes with no walls around people I don’t know and having to drown out the sound of multiple people on Teams calls all day.
In my office in suburban Philly people from the Real Estate group walk through our building periodically. They are looking for people who are squatting in the larger (and much nicer) empty offices, as your LOB would be charged rent for your usage.
Now why that’s an issue, I have no idea.
They have people in purple shirts patrolling every floor regularly in Uptown CLT 3WF building.
The open floor admin spaces are absolute garbage work environments. There's literally no design that could be worse. CPG is a complete failure as an organization, and the contracting out of what's left of that team can't come soon enough. They don't take business group of employee work needs into account in any way. They see some stupid trend, latch onto it regardless of the challenges and force it upon people just trying to work, for a company that refuses to let them. It's so stupid that it must be intentional. No one could possibly fail this badly by accident or d-mb luck.
Yes, CPG has ambassadors that help manage the floors. The reason is that many people are complaining about people camping out in focus/conference rooms all day.
