Accountability

In my time with the firm, there’s been a real shift in leadership in my organization.

The current group of MDs doesn’t have the same tenure or approach, and the environment shows it. The previous group wasn’t perfect, but there was a baseline level of professionalism and respect.

With this leadership team, a lot is visible about how they operate, and it’s not what you’d expect from people in those roles. It’s hard to take them seriously or have much respect for them, whether they realize it or care.

The current team of MDs has no accountability for unacceptable behavior, yet they decide everyone else’s future while not being held to the same standard.

Everyone sees it, but posts like this may be the only form of accountability for those at the top

@1bj , I think you mistyped that. Should have been: PIPs do not apply to MDs. Policy is everyone except those over Director level.

@155 PIP applies to MDs. Policy is everyone except those under contract.

@s2 this sounds like something that someone who wishes they were an MD would say

Do MDs ever get put on PIPs, or is that only for certain levels?

Becoming an MD takes so much… moral flexibility, ignoring obvious problems, a-s kissing and/or deep throating that of course they have no accountability. That’s not what leadership is looking for, they want yes-people. And they can get them so… why stop? It’s all going to come down like a house of cards at some point…

STS MDs collectively have the worst competency
None of them would survive outside Schwab.

Reading this post and the comments, they’re spot on.

Makes me wonder if this is specifically about the area I work in or if MDs across the firm are like this??

Sometimes, it feels like Schwab’s corporate bureaucracy is so bloated and unwieldy just to provide leadership cover from accountability, while laying it on thick for ICs. While ICs are being hounded for KPIs and RTO compliance, MDs get to do as they please with zero accountability from anyone above.

Yeah the MDs in my department definitely aren’t held to the same standard as the rest of us.

We’re told there’s no budget for basic team stuff, but that doesn’t seem to apply when it comes to MDs going to unnecessary conferences or traveling to other locations for visits that are not needed.

It also seems like there’s a big focus on tracking and enforcing who’s in the office and who isn’t, except those expectations don’t seem apply to the MDs.

If cost cutting is Rick’s priority, it’s pretty obvious where the biggest costs with the least return sit in my department .

100% & if anyone from that leadership team sees this and thinks it’s about them, the focus will be on who posted it rather than any self-reflection.
