Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Low Workload, Layoffs, and What’s Next?

So, here’s the situation: Other teams have actually been pulling work away from us, thanks to all the AI fears, restructuring, and process simplifications. Our MD is super hands-off, and now we’re averaging under two hours of work a day. I have no idea when layoffs might come, and I’m torn: Should I start job hunting now or wait for a package? I’ve been here long enough that if they let me go, I’d get about six months of severance. Maybe I’ll do both—keep an eye out but hang tight. Honestly, the light workload is kind of nice, but it’s also making me anxious—I haven’t been sleeping well at all.

I have been doing two hours of work per day for the past ten years and nobody has figured it out yet. Enjoy all your free time. I like to use my lunch (4 hours) to surf some tasty waves and eat pizza.

Make them pay you to leave. I got almost a year of severance. Taking that time to go back to school for a career in health care where I can actually do something meaningful.

Apply for jobs now. Severance is only 2 weeks of base pay per year you’ve worked. No more health insurance. It’s not worth waiting.

@OP package - depends how many years you have been here. if not many, then prob not worth it. might as well get ahead of the game and leave on your terms

I feel this although our workload is astronomical, I know cuts are still coming. But stay and take that damn severance. Then look for a job. Take this as a relaxing time since work load is light. Because your next job might ask for a lot. And you will get another job
