When there are posts of people claiming to be let go, their friend was let go, they know of a team that was let go etc, but they can’t answer when people ask WHERE or WHO even though this is anonymous, it leads me to believe these people are lying. They’re just trying to cause excitement and anxiety and stress.

If you haven’t figured this out yet, I’ll indulge you. Getting riffed is an awful experience. It’s something you can barely admit to yourself, let alone share with a bunch of strangers online. And if someone chooses to give only vague details about where it happened, that’s entirely their call. They don’t owe you peace of mind.
@OP This is an anonymous site for a reason—no one owes you (or anyone) specific details on what is likely a very bad day. It will be a blessing in disguise, but in the moment, I don’t think anyone needs to type out their Global Directory details. Geesh?! ;-)

I think this is HR or someone trying to deflect and place doubt. There have been layoffs today. However no on is stopping you (OP) from keeping your head in the sand.
A lot of people do say what groups and locations. However - being someone that was RIF'd in Feb I won't divulge too many details that might jeopardize my severance. Part of the package is an NDA. And while highly unlikely they'd connect the dots, I'm not gambling with what is basically a year's pay to find out. But I doubt people are coming on here lying. People are being cut, some days larger cuts than others. But it's happening. To think it's not is blissfully ignorant.
There have 100% been many cuts today….
