@q9 yep so we get forced (at gunpoint, threats of firing) to move away from mature tools into cursor (I'm sure someone got paid there), and then literally one week later we're getting micro-managed about token spend. It would be amusing if it wasn't so erratic. Use AI to generate all the code, but don't use the newer models... so try to use the cheaper models so ... the code is worse... I saw an effort today to 'measure and prove' the productivity of AI code generation before/after. Um for a large company isn't that the kind of thing you sort out BEFORE making one way changes and upsetting everyone?

If you give a developer a monthly token budget... don't start micromanaging and vomiting if they get to 20-30% of that monthly budget... oh dear. Even worse, the better models seem to be getting d-mber for each token spent over time. Give the devs a clear budget and walk the he-l away. I'm calling it now: you will get PIP'd over token spend, and also for not using enough tokens. Yes they really can think this at the same time.

Who else has money on leaders targeting people who use too many AI tokens? Ironic that AI was shoved down everyone's throats for it only to be used as another factor against the employees.

What a sh-t-hole this place has become.

No one should comply with RTO. Let's see if they can lay off the whole company.

@ne Have a feeling they are going to do the same thing as they did in india and essentially soft ki-l remote work. I hope not but I won't be surprised.

Big macro change could affect it, but current trajectory, there will be layoffs. Mix of ai token usage, latest rankings and 3 day in office % for next quarter will affect who’s on the list

@b0 the 3-day RTO mandate is going to define the next round of layoffs
