More than 20% of the companies non mfg jobs are being cut. Some points:
If they offered voluntary cuts in the factory they would have lost a lot of folks they cannot afford to lose.
If they offered the same package in the US as Europe…they would have exceeded targets.
For involuntary it feels like managers are undergoing the hunger games to protect their employees.
The only people who have not started looking…. suck. They realize their pay is higher than their skills.
The best employees will move on at some point on their own. Since they will not be rewarded anytime soon. This will cripple the pool of future potential leaders.
The only safe business is PCs. It’s the only business AMD cannot win because Intel has built a sales moat around it. Safe means the decline will be slower than other areas. Margins will decline as this moat must be maintained.
I know many of us will help the semi/compute space at other companies. It just won’t be Intel that grows with the rest of semi.
