Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Layoffs shouldn't be feared

What's the worst think that can happen? You get to leave the company that's been treating you like cr-p, underpaying you, stunting your career progress, and not only that, you get paid to walk away. I don't see the downside.

I will make it simple for you! They won't mess with Agents or Marketing. We spending nothing on other Employees/Buildings. Only place left is to constantly use claims to finance their BS and schemes. Systems employees are spread out across this as well but they do a good job hiding that cost and projecting it back on general departments and claims/LAE. Place is a total scam! Toxic company!

5 Expense Categories - 29-30% Expense Ratio - Varies each year .......
Agency Compensation 11%. (We spend $11-12 billion a year on agents)
Marketing 7-8% (Livin on a Prayer, Half Way There, Black Jake not White Jake)
LAE 7%. (Claims Employees and Lawyers/Litigation)
General Expenses - All other employees and buildings - 3-4%
Taxes and Fees - 1%

Legitimately cannot understand why its been acceptable for like a decade to have a core business function like claims be such a disaster....like how is it even a thing where most the company would rathe quit than work a vital core department for insurance? Man the executives responsible for claims must be expert at protecting their jobs vs results....and why is this not a result with metrics?

WHAT DOES IT COST STATE FARM TO DEAL WITH CLAIMS TURNOVER,HIRING, AND TRAINING? WHY IS THIS IGNORED?

Like whos in charge of this company, why is there no checks/balances to make sure a department doesnt get as bad as claims is.....and lets not look into overpayments ect from handlers over worked and checked out....

there should be a customer lawsuit about this....

The stories you have heard about Auto and Fire claims are watered down. You can't even imagine how bad it is. I quit yesterday! Worst experience of my life and I do not want anything to do with SF. Just wanted to warn anyone that is thinking of coming to work at SF or work in claims. DO NOT DO IT!!!! I made the mistake and hopefully I can help you avoid it.

100% go through training first, claims training is....its horrific, they really throw you to the wolves, not sure if they even have leads to assist when hitting the floor, but if they do you might want to wait a bit before leaving, for newer people will be a better benefit that taking the buyout, but if your old and been here forever, take the buyout its a good deal.

Insane to think after all these years claims still cant even try retaining people. Claims has a horrible reputation within company too so this reassigning isnt going to go like they think. Legit not a single person outside of claims wants to go to claims for any reason, theyve all heard the horror stories, which, imo, its worse than people say.

Yes, I'm going to take one of the Fire Claims jobs, go through training and maybe the first 90s day after that and as soon as they start trying to put me on a drop file I will just laugh and go in a drop off my laptop and tell them to go f-ck themselves. Saving up as much PTO as I can so they have to pay me for that. Taking my Life Leave and Celebration Day.... get the h-ll out of this sh-t hole. Place is bottom of the barrel.

@d2 exactly. I know TMs who were EOM coaches and analysists who once their gig was up and were assigned to Injury claims they did exactly that. I guess planning the misery for others was OK for them but actually living the misery they planned was not OK.

To anyone that gets reassigned instead of an exit package. GO THROUGH THE TRAINING PERIOD before you quit or retire. Make them pay you for those extra weeks.

Agree with everything you said except State Farm will do everything it can to not pay your severance. Torture, abuse, reassign, lie, con, scam, gaslight, catfish....I can go on and on. There used to be something called honor among criminals.....they can't even say that as they are taking their $25 million dollar bonuses and $8 million dollar salaries...and doing it at the expense and detriment of others. Evil toxic company....
