Thread regarding Synopsys Inc. layoffs

Forget "full potential"

I used to stay late learning new skills. Used to take on extra projects to grow. Then I watched three people who did exactly that get laid off anyway. Now my full potential is doing my job well enough to not get noticed, because getting noticed here isn't safe anymore.

I keep coming around to the question of why shareholders think this a a good idea. Never mind the leadership, but where are their heads at?

This constant fear of layoffs scares people. Who are most capable of jumping ship - high performers. This is a sure-fire way to get rid of your most talented employees.

We had an all hands meeting today in my team and literally the people who produced low effort slop from AI were rewarded, my current manager is selling low effort worthless c*p to upper management and getting recognised for it. The bh would struggle to write a basic hello world program without cursor , this is the sorry state of affairs that we're having to deal with

Sc*m of the earth bottomfeeders

What the goal is IMHO in the current culture is let the fire burn and then be the one to put it out. Smoke or prevention is not enough now only those who put out fires to make the execs look good in front of the big logos are appreciated.
